Hood, trunk, hatch and liftgate lift supports
Lift supports, also called gas struts or gas springs, hold up the hood, trunk lid, rear hatch, liftgate or rear glass. When a lid drifts down, drops on a cold morning, or will not stay open, the gas charge is usually worn out. This category lists BOXI lift supports sold by Tetron Auto Parts, most of them vehicle-specific pairs. Each listing shows extended length, compressed length, force and end fittings, plus a fitment table. Pick by year, make, model and position (hood, trunk, hatch, glass or liftgate), check any spoiler notes, and verify fitment before ordering. For sizing help, read how to match gas struts by length, force and ends. For safe replacement steps, see the lift supports guide.
FAQ
How do I measure a lift support?
With the lid fully open and safely propped, measure from the center of one end fitting to the center of the other. That is the extended length. Compressed length is the same measurement with the strut fully closed, and our listings show both. Then read the force stamp on the cylinder (for example 400N or 90 lbs) and note the end type at each end: ball socket, eyelet or bracket.
What are BOXI lift supports?
BOXI is the parts brand sold by Tetron Auto Parts. BOXI lift supports are gas charged struts listed with their length, force, end fittings and interchange part numbers, so you can compare them with the part you are replacing. Warranty terms are shown on each product page.
Should I replace lift supports in pairs?
Yes. A new strut working next to a worn one pushes unevenly and can twist the lid. Most BOXI vehicle-specific listings are sold as a pair. Swap one side at a time so the other strut and a prop rod hold the lid.
Can I use a stronger strut than stock?
Match the original force first. Too much force can bend brackets or make the lid hard to close. Too little lets it sag in cold weather. Only step up if you added weight, such as a spoiler, and verify fitment on the listing.
